Purpose of the American Legion Karl Ross Post 16 Honor Guard
  • To Provide Military Rites For Deceased Honorable DischargedVeterans
  • To Participate in A Limited Number of Parades
  • To Present Programs On Americanism, Flag And Other Patriotic Ceremonies
  • To Participate In Veterans Day, Four Chaplains Day, Pearl Harbor Day, Flag Day Ceremonies And Others

 

History of The American Legion Karl Ross Post 16 Honor Guard

A color guard was formed after World War II to honor the deceased Veterans from that war, at graveside ceremonies.  

Annually the Honor Guard honors nearly 100 funerals per year. An Honor Guard year starts every Memorial Day.

There is no charge to the Veterans Family for the services performed, but donations are accepted.  This money is used to purchase fuel, maintenance on the van, Uniforms for members, Ammunition for the Rifles, up keep of the rifles and other items as they occur.

Who is Eligible to join the Honor Guard?

Any Veteran that resides within San Joaquin County that is an active member. Preferable a retired member since the schedule of funerals is in the morning hours and early afternoon. If you are interested contact the Post.

Members of the Karl Ross Post 16 Honor Guard are Veterans of World War II, Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
