?Stockton?s Independence Day Parade

??Honoring our Veterans?

Saturday 4th of July, 2009

Downtown Stockton

?The theme of this years parade is ?9-11 Veterans ? Honoring those who answered the call?. ?These Veterans, both young and old, committed themselves to honor their freedom and their family by serving in the military. ?Now it is our time to commit ourselves to honor those that answered when called upon to protect us and our freedom, to honor them. ?As small or big our efforts are to honor the Veterans, it will be appreciated by them all. ?So, please come join us as we celebrate another year of the Nations Independence Day and Honor our ?9-11 Veterans ? Honoring those who answered the call?. ?

The Grand Marshall of the parade will be WWII Veterans. ?If there are suggestions or persons of interest to be considered the Grand Marshall, please call, email or come by our office. ?We can be reached at:

?Line-up for the parade will begin at 08:30 at Woodruff School. ?The parade will start at 10:00 and will cover downtown Stockton from Weber to El Dorado to Oak then Center, and then back to Weber.

Rules and Regulations (Page 2 part B)

?

  1. Parade assembly time 8:30 am at Woodruff parking lot.
  2. Equestrians must be ready for prejudging at 10:00 am on Parade Day.? If not then you will be judged ?as is?.
  3. The Parade Association of California rules will apply to all mounted entries.
  4. The American Legion Competitive Flag Code will apply to all Guards and/or Flag lines.
  5. No bareback riders will be accepted, unless approved by the Parade Committee.
  6. ?Junior? Units are ages six (6) through thirteen (13).
  7. ?Senior? Units are ages fourteen (14) and over.
  8. No discharge of firearms will be allowed.
  9. For safety reasons all living things on vehicles must be secured.
  10. Decorated cars must be completely covered (except for the windshield).
  11. Units must complete the entire parade route or be disqualified.
  12. Time is marked in the 100 foot Judging area.? Marching and Majorette Units, continuous forward motion at all times.? Equestrian groups may acknowledge Judges.? Penalty for overtime will be assessed.
  13. Judging stand will be located on the right side of the line of March.? All identification numbers must be worn or placed right of the entry in view of judges.
  14. A distance of twenty-five must be obeyed.
  15. All parade marshals and officials must be obeyed.
  16. Anytime a unit is pulled off the parade route, it is to remain there until the end of the parade.
  17. All vehicles and floats must be decorated with fire retardant materials.
  18. Failure to comply with all rules could cause penalities and or disqualification by Parade Coordinator.
All vehicles must carry appropriate insurance, required by law.
